Third prize for Diar Gashi at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students 2024

From 5 to 11 August 2024, three FAMNIT students, all from the Undergraduate study programme of Mathematics, participated at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC), which was hosted by the American University in Bulgaria. At the event, over 300 students competed in solving problems from the fields of Algebra, Analysis, Geometry and Combinatorics.

Diar Gashi demonstrated excellent mathematical skills by tackling the competition’s challenging problems, earning the third prize. Esmir Zoletić received the honourable mention and Dmytro Tupkalenko received the certificate of attendance.

Our team was successfully led by Gregory Robson (Department of Mathematics at our faculty). Among the most successful team leaders of the competition, was Besfort Shala, FAMNIT alumni, who led the University of Bristol team.

IMC provides university mathematics students with a distinctive experience. It promotes an inclusive, secure, and encouraging atmosphere, allowing participants to take part in stimulating competitions, build connections with mathematicians from around the world, and consider international career opportunities for those skilled in mathematics.

This year’s edition was already the 31st in a row, and participants from more than 200 institutions from more than 50 countries took part in all previous competitions.

We sincerely congratulate our students!
