Publishing

UP FAMNIT does not carry out independent publishing activities; instead, it collaborates with the University of Primorska Press in publishing publications and materials. Its publishing activities include co-publishing three international journals, issuing various study materials for undergraduate and postgraduate study programs, and publishing conference proceedings.

The faculty has a Publishing Committee that reviews and approves study materials in accordance with internal regulations adopted by the Senate of UP FAMNIT, while also following university guidelines. International Scientific Journals

The online edition of the journal AMC is freely accessible to everyone and is available on the journal’s website.

In the field of publishing, UP FAMNIT, in cooperation with the Society of Mathematicians, Physicists and Astronomers of Slovenia , the Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Mechanics Ljubljana, and the Slovenian Society for Discrete and Applied Mathematics (co-publishers since 2018), publishes the international mathematics journal Ars Mathematica Contemporanea (AMC).

According to the Science Citation Index (SCI) for 2015, Ars Mathematica Contemporanea (AMC) is ranked in the first quartile of mathematics journals based on its impact factor. With an impact factor of 0.985, the journal ranked 60th among 312 mathematics journals included in ISI. AMC is the first Slovenian journal to enter the elite top quartile of scientific journals by impact factor.

Since being included in the list of mathematics journals with an impact factor in 2011, AMC has been ranked twice in the third quartile and twice in the second quartile (2012 IF 0.667 and 2014 IF 0.742). The steadily increasing visibility of the journal also requires maintaining or improving the quality of published papers. Due to high standards, the editorial board accepts fewer than one-third of submitted manuscripts, and with recent success, the acceptance rate has decreased even further.

The journal publishes influential articles in modern mathematics, particularly in discrete mathematics. It also covers algebra, geometry, topology, theoretical computer science, and combinatorics.

The publication of the journal is co-financed by the Slovenian Research Agency.

UP FAMNIT and the Slovenian Society for Discrete and Applied Mathematics (Associazione slovena per la matematica discreta e applicata) also publish the international mathematics journal The Art of Discrete and Applied Mathematics (ADAM).

ADAM is a modern, high-quality, online open-access international scientific journal in the field of discrete and applied mathematics.

It is published twice a year in English, with abstracts in Slovenian. In addition to articles, the journal also includes research data results and computer programs for reading, writing, and processing such data. The journal publishes both shorter contributions and longer survey papers, as well as catalogs of selected structures. It covers a wide range of topics in discrete and applied mathematics, such as graph theory, combinatorics, algorithmic graph theory, combinatorial optimization, and their applications in science.

Published papers undergo international peer review. In addition to regular issues, ADAM also publishes thematic issues. All contributions in the journal are protected under a CC (Creative Commons) license. In principle, ADAM is published only online, although the publishers reserve the right to print selected contributions in book form.

The journal is published by an editorial board led by Editors-in-Chief Prof. dr. Dragan Marušič and Prof. dr. Tomaž Pisanski.

The journal DMC is freely accessible to everyone and is available on the journal’s website.

The scientific journal Discrete Mathematical Chemistry (DMC) publishes high-quality articles at the intersection of discrete mathematics and chemistry.

Chemistry has long been inspiration for research in areas such as graph theory, combinatorics, and group theory. DMC accepts contributions in these and related fields that present applications of non-trivial mathematics in chemistry or introduce new mathematical methods with potential for such applications.

The journal is published under platinum open access. It is freely available under the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 License.
