Special Student Statuses
Status of a Student with Special Needs
Students with special needs are provided with adaptations to the study process and study environment. These adaptations are defined in an individualized support program for each student. For support and assistance during their studies, students may contact a teacher–tutor assigned to them upon obtaining the status, or student tutors. How do I obtain the status of a student with special needs?
The procedure for obtaining the status of a student with special needs and the related study adaptations are defined in the Rules on Students with Special Needs at the University of Primorska.
To obtain this status, an undergraduate or postgraduate student applies when enrolling in the 1st or a higher year, to the Student Office. The application form is available here.
The student must attach appropriate supporting documents demonstrating a disability, impairment, or disorder, such as:
- a placement decision from the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Education, an expert opinion from the Commission for the Placement of Children with Special Needs, or a report and opinion from an expert commission for the classification of children and adolescents, or
- a decision from the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute of Slovenia confirming disability, or
- a medical certificate from a specialist confirming eligibility for special needs status.
Special Student Statuses (categorized athlete and coach of categorized athletes, artist and cultural worker, student participating in (field-specific) international competitions, and student parent)
A student of the University of Primorska may be granted a special status: categorized athlete or coach of categorized athletes, recognized artist or cultural worker, student participating in (field-specific) international competitions, or student parent. The acquisition of special student status at UP is governed by the Rules on Special Student Statuses of the University of Primorska.
