FAMNIT Preparatory Courses for Secondary School Mathematics Competitions

The Department of Mathematics at University of Primorska Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP FAMNIT) organizes preparatory courses for mathematics competitions every year for secondary school students from all grades. The aim of the programme is to provide young people with additional in-depth mathematical knowledge and encourage successful participation in mathematics competitions.

The preparatory sessions usually take place over several meetings, during which participants solve problems from previous competitions and, together with mentors, analyse different approaches to solving more demanding mathematical problems. Students are divided into groups according to their school year, which allows for tailored instruction and tasks of appropriate difficulty.

The sessions may take place online or in person at the faculty. Before each session, participants receive all the necessary information regarding the organisation of the classes and the study materials.

Participation in the preparatory courses is free of charge. However, due to the emphasis on high-quality instruction, the number of places is limited, so organisers encourage interested students to register on time each year.
