Mathematics day

The Department of Mathematics at University of Primorska Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP FAMNIT) organizes a Mathematics Day every year for students of Gimnazija Koper.

The event takes place at the faculty premises, where participants explore the practical applications of mathematics in everyday life and across various fields of science and technology through engaging lectures and interactive workshops.

At the beginning of the event, participants are welcomed by representatives of the faculty and the department. Afterwards, students are divided into groups and take part in lectures and workshops led by the faculty’s professors, researchers, and teaching assistants.

The programme includes a variety of topics from mathematics and its applications, such as number theory, linear algebra, game theory, cryptography, logic puzzles, and the use of mathematics in computer graphics and 3D modelling.

Mathematics Days at UP FAMNIT have been held since 2013 and are intended to promote mathematics and encourage young people’s interest in the natural sciences.
