Student Projects in Cooperation with the Community
For many years, the University of Primorska has received funding to run student projects that help build stronger ties between the university and the wider community, including businesses, public institutions, and non-profit organizations. These projects support open and flexible ways for students to move between education, work, and society. The European Union, through the European Social Fund, and the Republic of Slovenia, through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, provide the funding. In the past, the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia managed these projects. Since 2022, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation has co-financed them.
About the projects
Since the 2013/14 academic year, UP FAMNIT has carried out many student projects with students from most of its study programs and partners from both business and public sectors. The main aim is to encourage students and the university to work together with the community, especially so students can gain hands-on experience and develop professional skills in real workplaces.
An important feature of these student projects is their interdisciplinary nature. UP FAMNIT students also participate in projects organized by other faculties and units of the University of Primorska. Likewise, students from other members of the University of Primorska, as well as from certain faculties of the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor, and the University of Nova Gorica, take part in UP FAMNIT projects.
