Recognition of foreign diplomas

Candidates who obtained their diploma abroad must, prior to enrollment, complete the recognition procedure for the purpose of continuing their education. Applicants request recognition of foreign diplomas as part of the application for admission.

Certificates that do not require recognition are those from the former Yugoslav republics obtained before 25 June 1991 and International Baccalaureate (IB) certificates (the latest are equivalent to matura certificates obtained in the Republic of Slovenia.

The recognition procedure is conducted as follows:

  • by the University of Primorska – Admissions Office for candidates who wish to enrol in the first year of an undergraduate study program;
  • by UP FAMNIT – Student Services for candidates who wish to enrol in the higher year of an undergraduate study program or in the postgraduate study program.
