Sustainable Construction Studies

Study programmes

The built environment and the construction industry contribute significantly to global harmful emissions. There is considerable global pressure to reduce these emissions, and the need for change is also crucial in the field of civil engineering and construction. Measures adopted in this area will further encourage the transition towards sustainable construction.

UP FAMNIT offers study programmes in sustainable construction at all three levels – the undergraduate higher education professional programme Innovations Wood Innovation for Sustainability, the master’s programme Sustainable Built EnvironmentS, and the doctoral programme Renewable Materials for Healthy Built Environments. All three study programmes are conducted in parallel in Slovene and English.

The undergraduate programme has been designed in response to the current needs of the wood industry in Slovenia and Europe and promotes the development of modern competences, digital skills, and sustainable approaches. The master’s programme provides a comprehensive body of knowledge based on civil engineering, wood science, and architecture, combining strong applied value with an interdisciplinary approach. The doctoral programme educates top-level experts in the field of renewable materials for healthy built environments through an in-depth understanding of theoretical concepts, broad technical knowledge, and the ability to independently develop new knowledge.
